This is a social group for retired folk. It is open to men and ladies although at present the membership is all female. Indeed men are made very welcome. Frequently we have speakers. Topics have included 'A visit to the Somme Battlefields', History of the Moravian Church, Aloe Vera, Vitamins by a doctor in our congregation, South African visit by our church group and the History of Knock Area. These are just a few of many interesting speakers. We welcome ideas for other topics.
The highlights of the year include a Spring outing ( last year to Glenarm Castle Gardens with lunch at a local church) and of course, Christmas Dinner to a local Golf Club.
Many of the ladies knit blankets, hats and scarves which are sent abroad to areas of need and indeed some even knit tiny garments for premature babies to be used in our local hospitals.
Judging by the buzz of conversation in Kirk Cara on Wednesdays between 10am - 12 noon it is a very enjoyable and friendly group. If you feel you would enjoy fellowship with folk of your own generation, a cup of coffee/ tea and a biscuit, then give us a try. You will be made very welcome. Transport can be arranged.
